Analytics Specialist Job at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust
This is an exciting new post offering the opportunity to lend your analytical mindset and innovative inspiration to the analytics function of our Christie Clinical Outcomes and Data Unit.
We are looking for an experienced analyst with a flair for looking for data insights and finding solutions, and an interest in being a part of a team of forward-looking healthcare Analysts. You will ideally have experience of working in a healthcare environment. You will be a senior analyst within the Clinical Outcomes and Data Unit, helping to drive innovative approaches to generating operational and clinical outcomes measures and insights. You will line manage other analysts within the team and ensure all team analytical outputs and projects are of the highest quality. You will work closely with clinical colleagues to ensure their data needs are met and ensure processes and governance arrangements that underpin our analytics service for research, audit and quality improvement projects are appropriately maintained.
You will establish strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues providing opportunities for collaborative working within the clinical outcomes and research environment. You will identify and pursue avenues of innovative approaches and methodologies for evaluating clinical data, opportunities for funding and be confident in presenting research outputs at national and international conferences.
1. COU Director, Head of Analytics, Lead Analyst and Clinical Teams.
2. Take ownership for the monitoring and reporting of key local and Trust wide clinical outcomes indicators, flagging any areas of concern and help investigate outliers and evidence of change
3. Design and develop clinically relevant data reports and dashboards for clinical teams and senior management in line with Trust priorities, instigating adaptations and improvements as required.
4. Provide expert advice and guidance on the best use of data for research, clinical audits and service evaluation, being the ‘go to’ person for knowledge around data related to clinical pathways and outcomes.
5. Provide expertise around analytical methodologies and clinical data quality assurance, contributing to the monitoring and reporting of data quality and ensure data users are informed on the suitability of different data sets for their requirements.
6. Undertake complex information requests and ad-hoc reporting relevant to specialist area as required by Lead Analyst to best practice agreed
7. Be a key analytics resource for projects around outcomes improvements for clinical teams, supporting Clinical Leads in Trust research and service/outcomes evaluation and improvement initiatives, working closely with statistics and data science colleagues.

This is seen as one of the many benefits of working as part of the Analytics team and Digital Services as a whole. On site working is available as much as you want via a hot desk booking system. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will: -
1. Support the development of the Clinical Outcomes Unit reporting agenda in conjunction with COU Director, Head of Analytics, Lead Analyst and Clinical Teams.
2. Propose policy or service changes that impact the division, and other clinical areas across the trust.
3. Provide expert advice on the best methodologies and approach for clinical services and outcomes analysis and reporting.
4. Take ownership for the monitoring and reporting of key local and Trust wide clinical service and outcomes indicators, flagging any areas of concern and help investigate outliers and evidence of change
5. Provide expert advice and guidance on the best use of data for research, clinical audits and service evaluation, being the ‘go to’ person for knowledge around data related to clinical pathways and outcomes, making recommendations on the best solutions, providing guidance and evidence to clinicians and senior managers on why the recommendations are the best actions to take.
6. Provide expertise around clinical data quality assurance, contributing to the monitoring and reporting of data quality and ensure data users are informed on the suitability of different data sets for their requirements.
7. Undertake complex information requests and ad-hoc reporting relevant to specialist area as required by Lead Analyst to best practice agreed
8. Be a key analytics resource for projects around service and outcomes improvements for clinical teams, supporting Service and Clinical Leads in Trust research and service/outcomes evaluation and improvement initiatives.
9. Develop systems to collect and report data, providing expert analysis including statistical analysis, and be the ‘go to’ contact for expert advice and interpretation of all aspects of clinical information reporting.
10. Work closely with colleagues in QICA and R&I as well as Digital Services, taking a lead in the regular undertaking of detailed and complex audits and surveys, establishing work plans and time management schedules.
11. Design and develop clinically relevant data reports and dashboards for clinical teams and senior management in line with Trust priorities, instigating adaptations and improvements as required.
12. Provide guidance to clinical teams on the Trust’s information systems including Christie Data Insights
13. Contribute to the work set out in the Clinical Outcomes and Data Strategy and attend COU and clinical team meetings as required.
14. Play a key role in the development of the Clinical Outcomes Unit and Digital Services.
15. Produce high quality technical documentation
16. Design and write highly complex business and analytics reports.
17. Represent Clinical Outcomes and Data Unit and Digital Services as the Digital Business Partner representing all aspects of the Digital Service as required.
18. Execute other duties appropriate to the skills and experience of the post holder which may be identified by the manager.
19. Take a proactive approach to developing own skills and experience
20. Undertake line management duties as required including work allocation, attendance management, performance reviews and appraisals.
21. Promote a learning environment within the team and play a key role in the delivery of team training to ensure team objectives in relation to service delivery are achieved.
22. Support team members by providing support in achieving work objectives and learning; ensuring adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
23. Demonstrate the agreed set of values and accountable for own attitude and behaviour.
24. The post holder will be responsible for the direct day to day line management of Band 6 and Band 5 Analysts and, as required, contract staff, employed specifically on programmes and projects aligned to their area of responsibility to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery key projects
