Role summary:

Totnes Caring Community Projects Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering a regular programme of social activities for older people to reduce social isolation, maintain independence and improve their wellbeing. This includes our regular lunch clubs, men’s cookery and new pop-up café, as well as creating new activities that are tailored to the needs of our clients. They will budget and fundraise to enable delivery. They will also manage and support the activities team.

Tasks:

  • To ensure services are person centred and delivered in an enabling and empowering way, taking into account the needs, preferences and interests of each individual.
  • To encourage and support clients to engage and participate in TC activities.
  • To develop and deliver our new monthly pop-up café with the intention to deliver it on a weekly basis.
  • To develop and deliver our monthly men’s cookery sessions in partnership with Food in Community.
  • To develop group activities and one-off events that suit the needs and wellbeing of our clients.
  • To coordinate, develop and deliver our lunch clubs and hot meal delivery service including liaising with clients, the social club and organising the volunteer rotas.
  • To manage and support TC activities staff, including the Volunteer Co-ordinator which includes supervision, training, and team meetings.
  • To support volunteers, including volunteer support, supervision and training.
  • With support from our Volunteer Coordinator recruit volunteers for group activities.
  • To seek and apply for funding opportunities.
  • To coordinate TC occasional fundraising events and TC’s support of community fundraising activities and initiatives.
  • To engage and develop partnership working which supports our activities.
  • To develop evaluation tools to monitor the outcomes of the projects and collect data as necessary providing accurate and timely reports as required.
  • Operate in accordance with all TC policies and procedures.
  • To ensure the dignity and privacy of clients is upheld at all times
  • Any other tasks which are consistent with the role and job description.

Person Specification:

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of managing projects including, budgeting, planning, delivering and evaluating.
  • Experience of staff or volunteer management.
  • Experience of planning and delivering group activities including conducting risk assessments and health and safety.
  • Experience of working with older people
  • Experience of working across sectors, statutory, primary, voluntary and business.
  • Experience of budgeting.
  • Experience of fundraising for activities.
  • Knowledge of issues that affect older people.
