We support 3 ladies with learning disabilities who live in supported living service’s in Bedlington. Two of the ladies live together in a spacious bungalow, while the third lady lives in her own bungalow nearby.
We are looking to grow our team of dedicated, caring, enthusiastic and friendly support worker to work 16 hrs per week with all 3 ladies.
As a support worker you will be supporting people in becoming as independent as possible. You will be offering reminders and providing support around administering medication, helping with personal care and offering support with cooking healthy meals. You will also receive full training in many different aspects of support work to ensure that these ladies get the best and most positive support.
Being a support worker isn’t just about making day to day life it’s about having fun! Each of these ladies have their own different hobbies. One lady loves to collect items, and enjoys annual holiday’s to Spain. One lady enjoys going out shopping, visiting places of interest within the local community and buying magazines. One lady loves to go out on a daily basis, shopping, dining and attending music lessons.

Supporting someone with their daily life is not a 9-5 job. You will need to be able to work across a range of different days and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts. We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance – Got a request, something special going on? Your manager will certainly try to help you meet it.

What does a Support Worker do?
As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.
- Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.
- Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
- Excellent communication skills/relationship building – supporting the person to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
- Community & Social Inclusion- Supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and Social events to promote life skills and individuality.
