We are the Environment Agency. We work in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to manage the impacts of climate change, perhaps the most serious long-term threat to the environment, people, and wildlife that we face.
We are looking for several highly motivated Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Advisors to join the Kent South London and East Sussex (KSLES) Asset Performance teams. The work you do will help make a better place for people and wildlife in the local river catchments.

The Environment Agency has an incident response role within the community so there will be opportunities to participate and help in environmental emergencies.
Membership of ICE, CIWEM or Asset Management would be beneficial but not essential.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Management of FCRM assets at a river catchment level.
- Strategic outlook to support delivery and working effectively with others to ensure joined up asset management for the area.
- Supporting delivery of our capital and revenue programmes, as well as management of our reservoirs.
- Sound health, safety, and wellbeing focus to a high standard, often working within Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
- Building effective relationships and working closely with our Field Teams and internal / external stakeholders.

The team
Asset Performance teams are experienced asset managers that cover large geographical river catchments and coastlines. Asset Performance are responsible for the inspection, survey, assessment, maintenance, and operation of FCRM assets in a safe, effective, and efficient manner to reduce flood risk to people and property.
There are 4 permanent posts available and 1 temporary 6-month assignment, these include roles with specific catchment or asset focus, and roles across the area in capital programme delivery.

Experience/skills required

- Technical environment/engineering background
- Confident, visible leadership with the ability to show initiative
- Capable of prioritising, handling complex, busy workloads
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to deal with the pressure of working to multiple deadlines
Also desirable:
- Academically qualified to degree level/equivalent in a relevant environmental/engineering/related discipline
- Asset management experience
- Experience working as a Senior User on projects
- Working with members of the public, consultants, professional partners and/or as part of an Integrated Delivery Team (IDT).
- Eager to learn on the job, gain understanding of Construction Design Management (CDM), capability to fulfil both ‘client’ and ‘designer’ roles.
- Knowledge of incident management, a readiness to work out of hours
