Head of Strategic Insights Role Summary:
To lead the group’s strategic insights team providing value-creation through research, analysis and innovation. This will involve using a data driven approach to inform MAG’s aviation, commercial and wider business strategies. You will also work with the aviation and commercial teams and support them in developing and managing partners.
A day in a life of a Head of Strategic Insights:
- Consistently deliver high-quality complex streams of work from idea generation through to completion.
- Lead the development of high-quality data driven (where necessary) pitch documentation for the aviation and commercial teams, looking at opportunities within a 12-month horizon.
- Lead the internal aviation and commercial governance process (commercial decision gateways).
- Lead the in-year forecasting/budgeting, working with the Head of Strategy (responsible for the long-term forecasting), the aviation, commercial and finance teams.
- Work with the wider strategy and development directorate to carry out analysis and research to support strategic opportunities and acquisitions.
- Communicate insight clearly and concisely to C-suite and directors.
- Support in developing the careers of the key roles and junior members of the team, identifying opportunities that will provide more exposure to enhance their capabilities.
- Attend and present at exco subcommittees
What will make you successful as a Head of Strategic Insights:
- Able to deal well with ambiguity and new content across a broad range of topics, developing this into a compelling high quality narrative suitable for distribution to C-suite
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrable ability to engage up to C-suite
- Ability to simplify complex data and deliver insight concisely and quickly
- Extensive experience in the commercial, retail and/or aviation sector. Consultancy experience is desirable
- Articulate and good writing skills
- Experience of introducing and developing new analytical tools and techniques into a company
- Experience of basic forecasting and regression techniques is desirable
- Degree educated (numerate) or higher
- Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
