Do you want to gain knowledge and skills in conservation management at one of the Trust's nature reserves unlike any other in the country?

The aim of the Heritage and Conservation Trainee is to provide an individual with the opportunity to learn the principles of conservation management, general project management skills and the importance of working with communities and partnership working; whilst undertaking a paid placement in Environmental Conservation. The trainee will produce a portfolio demonstrating their new skills and a personal project report.

The trainee will work alongside a team of experienced staff within Merseyside to help manage and maintain Lunt Meadows Nature Reserve, near Maghull. The trainee will benefit from working at Lunt Meadows and across different aspects of the project, supported by members of our team, with opportunities to learn to undertake a range of practical conservation work, recruit and support volunteers, support local community groups, engage with the general public, support and deliver education sessions / community events and participate and lead surveys.

Lunt Meadows is a regionally important wetland nature reserve and flood storage reservoir comprising of a series of reed beds, grasslands and pools, with an added layer of interest unlike any other nature reserve in the country. Below the ground lies a buried prehistoric landscape containing settlement sites of the earliest occupants of the area after the end of the last Ice Age: hunter-gatherer communities of the Mesolithic period (or middle Stone Age), dating between 11,300 and 6,000 years ago.

We offer 25 days holidays per annum (increasing with length of service), plus bank holidays and three occasional days during the Christmas and New year period.
