Role: IT Risk & Control Analyst
Location: Blackburn, BB1 2FA – Office Based
Hours: Full-Time / Permanent
Salary: Dependent on experience & Bonus Scheme
What will my role look like?
The IT Risk & Control team sits within the Technology function at EG Group and its purpose is to ensure the successful design, implementation and endurance of IT Controls, and to effective IT risk management practices are in place and adhered to.
The processes that we are creating will enhance maturity and provide lasting solutions for reducing technology risk exposure, remediation of inadequate controls, and tackling emerging risks.
The team currently operates as a hybrid 1st/2nd line function which involves working very closely with our IT colleagues, Control Owners and Operators to deliver new IT controls, review existing controls and assess design and effectiveness of processes, policies, standards and continually look for ways to centralise and rationalise controls in line with best practice.
The team works for the most part with the UK based Technology team and business units such as HR and Finance but we also work with all other functions across UK and overseas where we have an EG presence (including Australia, USA and Europe).

What would my main responsibilities be?
Support the embedding of IT controls into business as usual through detailed review of design and operation and working closely with new control operators.
Support test plans/script creation and co-ordination of the IT control assessment calendar.
Manage issues/actions, mitigation solutions and remediation activities to drive improvements and consistency across IT.
Support IT Controls programme activities, working closely with control owners, other risk colleagues within the team and external auditors to ensure we have robust controls in place to manage our risk exposure.
Identify process and control weaknesses and make recommendations for improvements.
Provide targeted support to Control Owners and Operators through 1-2-1 IT Risk and Control training or group sessions.
Assist in the production of IT risk & control reporting and support wider enterprise risk activities as required.
Liaise with internal/external audit as needed.
Provide support and guidance to project teams and other business areas in relation to IT Risk Management – building strong relationships and becoming a trusted advisor.
Support the creation of IT policies as needed, ensuring they are fit for purpose and maintained in line with best practice and global control requirements.
Collaborate with different business areas and country units to meet global IT Risk Management requirements and policies.
Participate in wider change projects as a subject matter expert, providing objective challenge and oversight to ensure that IT and security controls and approaches are observed and risks and issues identified are reported and escalated in line with the governance framework.
Manage key tasks and projects as required, such as performing IT risk assessments, IT advisory reviews, IT project assessments, 3rd party IT testing, and other project reviews as identified across all aspects of the firm’s information technology structure.
Drive an effective risk & control culture across EG Group, promoting accountability, responsibility, and action, acting as a risk & control ambassador to ensure best practices are shared and actions delivered.
Coordinate and facilitate awareness and training on behalf of IT to ensure that risk responsibilities are understood and carried out throughout the department.
Candidate Requirements
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
The ability to influence colleagues, teams, and senior leadership to embed IT Risk Management processes successfully
Knowledge of ERP systems particularly SAP
IT Controls Testing, creation of test scripts and co-ordination of activities
Experience of working with or within IT internal audit/external audit teams
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, being able to decipher sometimes complex information, analyse and report on for different audiences
Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
Issues/Actions management and remediation strategies to mitigate risk
Working knowledge of IT Control frameworks & IT General Controls.
IT Controls experience within Financial Service or Retail beneficial
ITIL, COBIT knowledge will be helpful
Qualifications
Qualified to degree level with CISA, CRISC or similar professional qualifications. Candidates will equally be considered with demonstrated time served experience in this field
