Our Maritime Hardware Team which designs and develops Autonomous Defence Systems are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer, responsible for designing specialised mechanical solutions for both autonomous and conventional systems.
The role would be well-suited for anyone who has well-rounded, highly regulated Mechanical Engineering experience looking to take on further responsibility and have experience of taking concepts through to completion.
The role
An experienced Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineer with the ability to understand and define requirements operating as the Mechanical discipline authority within Systems Engineering.
Responsibilities will include:
Carrying out mechanical design activities in a team environment with other engineers.
Working collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture design solutions.
Trials and integration support
Working collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture design solutions.
Monitoring compliance of designs against target costs and lead times
Experience
An experienced Mechanical Engineer with a degree or equivalent qualification with a solid understanding of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering principals and of Engineering Development lifecycles.
Experience in operating within highly regulated sectors, ideally Maritime, Defence or Aerospace.
Experienced with 3D Cad Systems, ideally CREO or PDMLink
A fundamental understanding of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering principals
A general understanding of Engineering Development lifecycles.
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Packaging of electronics and associated cabling.
Designing for platform installation.
Design of racking or cabinets
Designing of assembly and mould tooling.
Designing of lifting equipment
Experience in the design of sonar assemblies and/or equipment for the sub-sea environment would be highly advantageous
