Who we are…and what we do
With an annual turnover of around €2bn, ekaterra is the world’s largest tea business, with world-class, purpose-driven brands such as Lipton, Pukka, Tazo, T2 and PG Tips. ‘eka’ is a word taken from the Sanskrit language which means unity and one purpose, while ‘terra’ represents the earth and nature. As ekaterra we are truly united in one purpose: growing a world of wellbeing through the regenerative power of plants.
In July 2022, CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII took over the full ownership of the ekaterra business from its previous owner, Unilever. As a standalone entity with a dedicated single-category focus, ekaterra is even better positioned to lead the tea industry, delivering higher growth and value, and a greater impact on the wider world. With 11 production factories in four continents and tea growing estates in three countries, ekaterra is a profitable and growing business whose brands reach hundreds of millions of consumers. It has a presence in over 100 countries.
Under the ownership of CVC, ekaterra has an exciting future ahead with opportunities for increased investments in our iconic brands, our people, and our capabilities. Combining the strength and scale of our brands with a focus on speed and agility, ekaterra is brewing a corporate start-up mindset that’s opening-up new opportunities for its people to flourish every day.
At ekaterra, we put consumer love at the heart of every decision. We celebrate diverse thinkers who take personal ownership to connect ideas and make impactful things happen; people who share our values around humanity and courage and give their commitment to nurturing the wellbeing of all. In return, we offer a working culture that gives our people freedom and flexibility, and where they can grow both personally and professionally to master their field.
Be part of our amazing blend. Come and grow yourself and, in turn, help us to grow a world of wellbeing.
Your Role
Our HR Vision is to be famous as a “purpose-driven place to work” that’s creating the future of work for a diverse population, focused on growth and recognised & rewarded for measurable success.
As a People Partner you will be passionate about supporting our colleagues through their career journey. You will be part of the factory HR Team and collaborate with the wider Employee Experience team to create and deliver slick processes for every employee journey there is. Your interactions with employees in your business function will ensure they feel valued, heard and given the right resources and support they need during the most important moments during their careers.
The People Partner will ensure Employees and Line Managers understand the partnership model that has been put in place with self-service technology as a first point of contact for any queries.
Your Key Tasks
The People Partner will be able to directly make a positive impact on each key stage of an employee's lifecycle and be the key person to positively influence and shape the employee experience at times which are critical in their career.
Key to the smooth running of HR Operations within the UK business, working with Employees, Line Managers, HRBPs and other business partners within the function you are partnering, you will:
  • Manage onboarding, job move and exit employee engagement. Own the end-to-end employee cycle – partnering line managers and acting as a single point of contact for employees in your function area, through key career moments such as onboarding, role moves locally and globally, career growth, parental leave, time off, exit, etc.
  • Provide coaching and support to line managers in employee experience. Empower our employees to be the best version of themselves. Our role is to help Employees, and our business, to thrive. Therefore, at ekaterra we are committed to promoting a positive environment in our workplaces. As People Partner, you will be a wellbeing ambassador, championing positive health and wellbeing, and promoting the resources available to support our people.
  • Support Local HR Strategic People Agenda: Work with HRBP and Leaders to create and deliver project plans for managing any change programmes and reorganisations. As People Partner, specifically, you will play a key role leading any change programme end-to-end, ensuring meaningful consultation takes place, whilst providing guidance and support on process and policy.
  • Take a proactive approach to employee relations, reviewing data and spotting any employee relations trends, recommending solutions, and coaching Line Managers to take any actions you feel are the right steps to take/ tackle problems before they grow.
  • Guide Leaders in relation to HR policies and procedures (such as performance improvement, grievances, absence management etc), coaching them through the process and ensuring they have a good understanding of the legal requirements. Our role with ER can be very hands-on, writing scripts, creating outcome letters, etc. to support cases through to completion.
  • Work side-by-side with teams across HR (HRBPs, Payroll, Reward etc) providing support and subject matter expertise to recommend appropriate actions to address queries or problems.
Who we are looking for
  • You will have experience of working in a trade unionised manufacturing environment.
  • You’ll have experience of employee relations and case management, including knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations.
  • You will have great attention to detail, a passion for delivering great customer experience and you can spot an opportunity to improve a process at a mile off.
  • You will be experienced in handling sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy, you are comfortable having difficult conversations, working professionally and discreetly with sensitive information.
  • Both the what and the how are important to us – explaining requirements/processes is key, but first comes the critical step of gaining buy-in from your stakeholders. Therefore, you’ll have strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, building strong relationships with trust & confidence, as well as having the ability to influence.
  • You’ll be confident to work independently – making your own judgment, using discretion while utilising ekaterra policies and practices.
  • A natural collaborator – you’ll work well as part of the team, there is no such thing as “not my job!” here – we have one shared purpose, to drive growth, whilst protecting ekaterra from risk.
What we can offer you
Not only do we offer a competitive salary, but also our pension scheme and an annual bonus . You’ll get the opportunity to work directly with a renowned and exciting brand in a flexible and agile environment. We strive to achieve a family-friendly culture and to, above all, create possibilities for all.
We believe that growth is for everyone, we believe in growing leaders, and we believe in making space to grow an owner’s mentality. Like nature, we adapt, we change and we grow. We believe in connections over hierarchies and work levels. We have a 'corporate start-up' approach; we act with speed and agility and we have the strength and scale of a large corporation. We are building a better world of wellbeing, and a better you.
