Joining our Laboratory team as a Physical Testing Technician you will be entitled to a highly competitive basic salary and a great range of benefits.
Role Responsibility
The Physical Testing Technician works as part of the National Laboratory team to undertake accurate analysis and investigation of technical matters related to the use of Tarmac cement based products (cement, concrete and mortar), using a range of laboratory techniques.
Some key requirements of this role include:-
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
- Ensure analytical and proficiency standards are maintained.
- Assist in Sample Reception, as required.
- Assist in the maintenance of UKAS accreditation and implementation of Quality Management Systems.
- A pro-active approach towards Health and Safety and to maintaining a safe working environment.

The successful candidate will be able to work as an individual and as part of a dynamic team, with a willingness towards learning in order to meet current and future business needs.
You should demonstrate the ability to be flexible and self-motivated and possess a positive attitude in your approach to work. We are also looking for a commitment to continuous improvement and self-development, with an ability to manage your time and priorities in an effective and efficient manner.
Finally, a commitment to maintaining and improving health, safety and environmental standards is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 GCSE’s of Grade C or above (preferred subjects: Maths, English, Science)
- ‘A’ levels.
- City & Guilds or higher qualification in a relevant subject.
Advantageous Experience:
- Good knowledge and appreciation of science.
- Knowledge of cement manufacturing and / or cementitious products.
- Previous laboratory experience.
- Calibration of lab equipment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001.
