Job Title: Principal
Salary Range: L33 - L39 (£97,256 - £112,601)
Hours of work: Permanent/full-time
Start Date: Required from September 2023 or earlier
Outwood Grange Academies Trust, one of the largest multi academy trusts in England, is seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to the position of principal at Outwood Academy Ormesby. The successful candidate will provide first class leadership to drive school improvement so that the academy’s inclusive culture and quality education meets our vision to put students first, raise standards, and transform lives. Outwood Grange Family of Schools is nationally recognised as one of the highest performing multi-academy trusts in the country and one of the founding trusts of the National Institute of Teaching.
Located in Middlesbrough in Teesside, Outwood Academy Ormesby is easily accessible from Teesside, County Durham, Darlington and North Yorkshire with easy access to A66, A1 and A19. The academy’s facilities provide a rich and welcoming learning environment for our young people. There is an additional resource provision in the academy for children with special educational needs and disabilities. The academy has well-developed relationships with our local authority, co-located special school, external agencies, and primary schools.
Outcomes for students are not yet strong; for example, the proportion of students achieving a grade 4 or better in English and mathematics is 45%, with 59% in English and 46% in mathematics at grade 4 or better in 2022. We are keen to improve these outcomes for our students.
The academy received a good judgement in their 2017 Ofsted inspection. However in July 2022 the academy was given a notice to improve judgement. Leadership has significantly changed and a comprehensive improvement plan has been implemented to secure sustainable long term change for the academy. It is an exciting time to join the academy’s committed team and lead them on this important improvement journey. It requires strong, inspirational leadership; an ability to drive change and a commitment to ensuring our community has an excellent secondary school that meets its students' needs and raises their aspirations.
Applications are welcomed from those seeking their first headship or from experienced Principals/Headteachers looking for a new challenge. The successful candidate will have excellent access to a full suite of continued professional development opportunities through the brand new National Institute of Teaching, through our leadership network across our family of schools and through expert support from our highly experienced executive leadership team.
