Merton is a high performing and forward thinking outer London Borough. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly ambitious, innovative, energetic and high achieving Public Health Team. The team has developed strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, making our work more effective in improving the health of our community, meeting their needs and tackling health inequalities.
We are looking for a motivated, focused and enthusiastic individual with good communication, organisational skills and keen interest in Public Health, to join our team. The Public Health Apprentice will be recruited on a fixed term (36 month) contract. During this time, the apprentice will be supported and given time to reach their learning and developmental goals and will gain a BSc (Hons) Public Health degree from Coventry University (Training provider). The apprentice will be expected to travel to Coventry University for the taught course elements, roughly 1-2 days per month and travel costs are reimbursed. This is an excellent opportunity for the apprentice to work in a busy Public Health team, gain valuable Public Health skills and experience working with internal and external partners.
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- You must hold an NVQ Level 3 (e.g., 2 A Levels) or equivalent AND a minimum of 5 A* to C GCSE passes (grades; 9 to 4) including Maths and English, or equivalent e.g. Level 2 qualification.
- You must also be willing to undertake the BSc (Hons) Public Health degree with Coventry University and travel to the university as required (see above).
- To apply for this role, you must NOT have a previous degree/masters or professional qualification in Public Health and you must be eligible to work in the UK (see below).
- Successful candidate must be ready to start in the role on 17th January 2023 (subject to satisfactory references)
To be eligible for apprenticeship funding (which funds the university tuition fees) candidate must meet one of the criteria in the Apprenticeship funding rules (Apprenticeship funding rules for employers - Annex A: Eligibility criteria (who we fund) - Guidance - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
