As a Regional Operational Manager, you will manage the Decorating Centres (DC's) in your region and all their selling activities. You will strive to achieve the company's strategic goals and investigate and propose new initiatives to improve sales.

The role will have full P&L responsibility for approximately 20-30 DC's. The Store Managers report into the District Operations Managers, who report into you. We're currently looking for a Regional Controller for the region around St Albans, Milton Keynes and the West Slough area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit and provide leadership and mentorship to DOMs and Decorating Centre teams so that they are motivated to actively seek ongoing personal development to aid their productivity via coaching and training, through development plans and the annual appraisal system.
  • Responsible for implementing a formalised, structured sales approach complete with all the required administration to ensure organic sales growth, detailed price control, margin maximisation and compliance to company price architecture.
  • Handle the activities of the zone management team to ensure a consistent approach to meet legal and network standards. Ensure that the team develops their staff ensuring they are trained, motivated and fully aware of their DC performance, with the aim of growing their productivity.
  • Mentor the management team in the need to understand the store performance via their monthly P&L statements and other management reports, which aids their knowledge of the business and their contribution to the control of costs and increase profitability.
  • Ensure strong relationships with all customers, particularly all major contractors, leading to mutually profitable business opportunities, ensuring PPG brands are top-of-mind at all times. Ensure that DC staff fully understand the required standards and rationale behind delivering good customer experience. Represent PPG when required at events, exhibitions and seminars.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to deliver strategic marketing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Preferable educated to Degree level or A Level standard as a minimum or qualified through appropriate levels of experience.
  • Shown experience at leading a multi-site network of retail or trade outlets, preferably with B2B experience
  • A commercial approach to business, you have the ability to quickly gain in-depth understanding of the Company and its operational and sales procedures and work cross-functionally within the organisation.
  • Excellent motivational, management and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Confident to analyse and disseminate information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems and P&L management
