Research Technician Job at Lancaster University
We are looking for a research technician (Grade 5) to join our team to investigate the impact of parental obesity on the structure and function of the offspring brain. The position is funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK and is available for 4 years under the supervision of Dr. Cheryl Hawkes and Dr. Neil Dawson in the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences at Lancaster University, UK.

The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, within the Faculty of Health and Medicine, is a rapidly growing, innovative and vibrant Division whose research effort is directed towards understanding basic cellular and physiological mechanisms that underpin disease states. Research areas include, neurodegeneration, mental health, ageing, infectious diseases, immunology and cancer biology.
We are seeking a highly motivated technician able to carry out mouse colony management, in vivo experiments and behavioural testing. You should have a degree or equivalent in neuroscience or a related biological sciences discipline. Experience with a range of cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as immunocytochemistry, Western blotting and qPCR is also required. Candidates should also demonstrate evidence of being able to effectively troubleshoot research problems and work independently. Having a Home Office personal licence would be advantageous, but is not required.
