Job Details
1) Developing and managing supply strategies for key commodities in order to ensure prompt, accurate supply to customers.
2) Provide technical / commercial assistance to buyers to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge.
3) Ensure supply and production of manufactured parts in line with project delivery assessing both internal and external manufacture options.
4) Developing and managing systems, processes and staff in order to drive M&N/Hydro’s Quality requirements into suppliers.
Physical Requirements:
- Current valid driving license.
- Some traveling which may require overnight stays.
- Participate in emergency cover rotation. Requires being on call for a week at a time including over a weekend or bank holiday every few months.
- Able to carry out work tasks that involve physical strength, stamina, standing, kneeling or crouching.
Essential
- Engineering Qualification (HND or greater)/sufficient experience.
- Approximately 10 years’ experience in a combination of roles related to procurement, logistics and quality.
- Awareness of different manufacturing processes
- Able to interpret technical drawings to ensure parts ordered to drawing meet requirement
- Knowledge of suppliers’ strengths and capabilities within manufacturing industry both nationally and locally Concise, conscientious, organised with good writing skills
- Good communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
- Highly organised with attention to detail
- Fluent English – written & verbal
- Ability to travel on occasions to meet suppliers, supplier visits and carry out audits
- Sheet metal estimating and costing background
- CIPS Qualification
- Commercial awareness
- Experience of inlet works design
- Knowledge of wastewater machinery associated ducting and ancillary parts.
- Project management experience
- Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite
Knowledge & Technical Skills
- Engineering Qualification (HND or greater)
- Previous engineering procurement experience
- Knowledge of correct level of certification of product to meet standard required.
Competence & Qualifications:
- Engineering experience to maintain credibility when discussing issues with manufacturing suppliers. The ability to deal competently with suppliers in person, by telephone and via email.
Skills & Attributes:
- Good communication skills, a mature approach and interpersonal contact are vital as well as the ability to self-manage workload, prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines in the provision of manufactured commodities to meet business output.
Key Duties:
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement. Manufacture smarter using Lean principles to deliver more effective products on time, cost and quality.
- Support and maintain a competitive European supply base that is appropriate to support the Company’s strategic objectives
- Working with the Procurement Manager to negotiate contracts, improve prices, lead-times and terms of business with suppliers.
- Reviewing/identifying new opportunities to make business savings using negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods to generate efficiencies for the business.
- Assist in reviewing and evaluating suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities. To quality check manufactured goods in accordance with the company quality policy.
- Assist external sales teams, business managers and regional managers in the associated costs and lead times required for orders and quotations including General arrangement, fabrication, installation, transport, and packing.
- To perform duties in accordance with all relevant legislation in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- To apply requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 as appropriate within the areas of responsibility.
- Other duties which the company may reasonably require the individual to undertake.
