Over the coming year, the firm will be aiming to bring an additional 37 new students into our rapidly expanding Accounting Service Line. Positions will be available within a number of our offices: Glasgow, Leeds, Skipton, Northallerton, Settle, Hexham, Penrith, Kendal, Dumfries, Carlisle and West Cumbria (Cockermouth).

Our programme brings together classroom study and on the job learning as part of both our AAT, and ATT apprenticeship study packages. You will learn a variety of invaluable tasks and skills and there will be lots of on the job training to support your development. You will be supported over a 3 year period where you will gain sought after accounting qualifications and establish a solid foundation for a successful career in Accounting.
The AAT role and qualification focuses on preparing accounts, VAT, book-keeping and accounts reporting. Whereas the ATT role and qualification focuses mainly on personal tax computations which can lead to you becoming a Chartered Tax Advisor. We are asking for candidates to apply for ONE of these trainee roles only, not both.
We want candidates who demonstrate strong communication skills, who are driven to succeed with a can-do positive attitude and strong work ethic.
In order to apply, candidates must have either achieved already, or be predicted to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (9-4) or a minimum of 5 Scottish National 5's Grade A-C or above (and subjects with this grade must include Maths & English). As well as this, candidates must be at least 18 years of age on or by 31 August 2023.

Closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 2 April 2023.
Shortly after the above closing date we will be shortlisting applications based on the criteria set above. If you are successful following the initial application stages, you will be asked to complete an online assessment in order for us to assess your numerical and problem-solving ability. This online assessment will be sent to you on Thursday 6 April 2023 with a deadline of Sunday 23 April 2023 (midnight) to complete by.
Should you be successful following submission of your application and completion of the online assessment stages, you will then be invited to attend one of our Assessment Centres.
The Assessment Centres will be taking place during May / June 2023 and the exact dates will be confirmed if you are successful in progressing through to the online assessment stage. The Assessment Centre will include a full competency-based interview.
Successful candidates will commence their employment with the firm on Monday 4 September 2023.
