IMMEDIATE START - Outreach support staff required

To provide a high standard of support to a child who is autistic and has learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate must have a passion for supporting the child to lead a fulfilling life and enable him to reach his full potential. You must be able to build and maintain good working relationships with adults’ parents/carers, and other professionals who should be built on trust and respect. You should be confident in providing 3:1 support as well as being able to work as part of a team to encourage and empower the child we support to become more independent and involved in their local community.

We are currently looking to recruit experienced Outreach Workers to work with a child who has a range of NeuroDiverse needs such as Autism, Learning disabilities and Challenging behaviours. We will also consider those who have no experience as full training and robust induction will be carried out before embarking on your role.

The purpose of this role is to carry out community-based activities with the child we support such asisiting the child to access the areas that they choose. This will also give parents respite whilst she is supported are engaged in these activities. Hours will be Monday - Friday 9-5 and possibly Saturday once agreed. You will initially report to the head office in Peterlee to pick up the minibus that is provided for the child, then travelling to Newton Aycliffe to begin the daily activities.

You will need to be:

Person-centered, passionate about the role, caring, committed to making a positive difference, compassionate, reliable, and able to encourage the people we support to reach their full potential. You should be able to display competence in the knowledge and understanding of Positive Behavioural Support as well as monitor and review data related to behavior, you will be able to effectively communicate with the person, the staff team, family/carers, and other agencies. You will be courageous and speak up if you have any concerns, have personal strengths and vision to innovate and embrace new ways of working and be able to demonstrate commitment to the people we support. You should be consistent in your approach and follow support plans and risk assessments. You will ideally possess NVQ level 2 or a care certificate and have a willingness to work towards a Care Diploma 3 in Health and Social Care. You will be fully conversant in, and work fulfilling Include ‘In’ Autism's values and ethos.
