About Us
Schroders Greencoat is the leading investment manager dedicated to renewables and has over £9 billion of wind, solar, bioenergy and heat assets under management across a range of publicly listed vehicles, private market pooled funds and Separate Managed Accounts (SMA) investing in renewable infrastructure. On behalf of our clients, we currently own and operate assets across the UK, Europe and the US. In 2021 alone, these assets generated 7.1TWh of renewable energy, enough to power around 2 million homes, saving 3.2 million tonnes of CO2.
Renewable energy is a multi trillion dollar global asset class and is expected to grow by more than $100 billion a year over the next decade. Utilities, energy companies and infrastructure developers will deliver the majority of this transition, but the scale of capital involved will require significant external financing. There exists a very large and growing pool of capital which is keen to own and operate these assets but lacks the deep technical skills and sector expertise to manage the investments independently. Our purpose is to bridge this gap – to be a conduit for this capital, and to provide the financial, technical and operational expertise to deliver secure incomes for our clients.
Founded in 2009, Schroders Greencoat has built a reputation for unwavering delivery of its investment propositions, as well as for innovation – our offerings have become the model for an entire industry sector. Sustainability is central to our purpose and our responsibility as a manager stretches beyond simply buying renewable energy assets; we are committed to making a positive impact to the environment and the communities in which we operate by promoting responsible investment practices and exercising robust governance across all our activities.
In April 2021, we became part of Schroders Capital, Schroders’ private assets’ platform, allowing us to benefit from Schroders’ distribution reach, sustainability capabilities, management experience and brand. We continue with the same leadership team, investment independence and distinctive culture, but with a renewed ambition to be a global leader in this fast-growing and important investment sector.
Schroders Greencoat are committed to equality of opportunity for all employees and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, socio-economic background, race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious belief or disability.
