This is your chance to become the Induction of Labour Project Midwife at Homerton Healthcare.

The appointed midwife will help improve the induction of labour process and flow throughout the maternity department and they would be responsible for ensuring that high standards of care are upheld at all times.

The postholder will work with the Antenatal Clinic and Turpin Ward managers, Labour Ward Coordinator and Clinical matrons as well as the senior maternity team, they will take responsibility for providing support for the women attending the maternity department for an induction of labour improving communication and flow throughout the department.

• Ensure effective communication to the women undergoing an IOL on at least a daily basis to ensure they have up to date information regarding the procedure and current waiting times.
• Ensure all women undergoing IOL have evidence-based information with shared decision making for the IOL process
• Liaise with Delivery Suite Coordinator and Ward Manager to plan for those women due to attend for IOL and prioritise admissions accordingly.
• Support the introduction of new initiatives in relation to IOL such as stretch and sweep clinics, IOL audits and further research.
• Contribute to the development of woman-centred services within maternity
• Attend and update regarding those women undergoing an IOL at the daily midday and LMNS huddles
• Assist within the clinical areas on both the antenatal ward and Labour ward as required to facilitate timely commencement of the IOL procedure and prevent delays of those awaiting an artificial rupture of membranes (ARM)
• Be responsible for ensuring that the needs of women and their families/partners are recognised and met through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
• Be responsible for ensuring commitment to maintaining a high quality of service to women and their families by continual development of practice.
