Based at Queen’s and King George Hospital

The Trust seeks to appoint a Specialist in Intensive Care with an Interest in any of the 4 above areas.

This is a 1year post (extendable up to 3 years on meeting performance indicators), and applicants will be expected to have suitable experience in Intensive Care. It would suit an experienced senior ITU Specialty doctor who is interested in gaining further clinical experience before applying for an ITU CESAR, or a Senior (ST 6/7) Anaesthetic Trainee looking to improve their CV before applying for a Consultant Job.

International Medical Graduates please note, it is essential that you have done at least 3 years of critical care medicine and 1 year of anaesthesia. 1 year of Intensive Care Medicine must have been done in the Uk, and 1 of your references must also be a UK ITU consultant.

Contribute to postgraduate and continuing education for medical, nursing, and other allied professions.

Deputise in the absence of departmental colleagues in cases of (where practicable) short-term sickness.

Contribute (in co-operation with the Audit Committee) on a regular basis to the clinical audit process undertaken within the Trust, and where appropriate at a broader regional level.

You will work across 2 locations:
  • King George Hospital in Ilford
  • Queen’s Hospital in Romford
Maintain an up to date knowledge of current Anaesthetic and Critical Care Medical Practice.

Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients. Attend departmental meetings (Tuesday pm ITU Governance Meeting, Wednesday ITU MDT).

Support the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead and other professional colleagues in the management of the department in order to ensure the maintenance of high standards, a good quality of patient care and the development of the service within the Clinical Governance framework.
