We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll and Pensions Administrator to join our Finance team.
The purpose of the role is to to assist the Payroll Manager by carrying out payroll related activities and to ensure a continuous high level of customer service in their absence and being the main point of contact for pensions administration and queries.
You must be experienced, organised, have a keen eye for detail and be comfortable dealing with a variety of personality types in a changing environment with strict deadlines as well as managing and supporting team members.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Payroll and Pensions Administration

Job Purpose: To assist the Payroll Manager in the administration of the monthly payroll as well as ensuring accuracy of the University’s pension data.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
Payroll:
- Import, review and post timesheets and expense claims
- Resolve timesheet and expense queries
- Review and process data received from the HR team for new joiners/terminations and amendments
- Download tax code and student loan notifications from HMRC, review and process
- Issue P45s and final pay documents
- Issue documents when requested i.e. copy payslips/P60s
- Monitor the Payroll email inbox - Dealing with enquiries from employees, managers and the HR team
- Raise ad-hoc payment requests as instructed by the Payroll Manager
- Deputise for the Payroll Manager in their absence
- Any other ad hoc tasks as required by the role
Pension:
- Deal with pension queries from employees and the HR team
- Answer the queries that come to the pensions inbox from our four pension providers (LGPS – TPS – USS – Scottish Widows)
- Build good working relationships with our account managers at each of the pension schemes
- Help the Payroll Manager submit i-Connect, MDC and SW files to the portals each month
- Coordinate the upcoming Pensions Audit
- Address and complete forms in the TPS portal:
- Retirement applications
- Opt-outs
- Opt-ins
- Additional pension contributions
- Certificates of reemployment
- Answer queries from TPS regarding anomalies, historical data, backlog, etc.
- Answer queries from LGPS regarding anomalies, historical data, etc.
- Process LGPS opt-out / in / 50:50 forms
- Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.
- Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices
