Do you want to join our exciting Through Care service and help families across East Sussex? Are you passionate about meeting the needs of our young people? Then we would like to hear from you.
As a Personal Advisor you would be responsible for supporting young people as they move through their journey from being looked after into independence as a young adult. You will also play a key role in supporting the young people you work with to navigate the asylum process and help them to make decisions about their future.
Key Tasks Include:
- Support care experienced young people develop skills to live independently
- Support care experienced asylum-seeking young people through the asylum process
- Empower young people to be able to plan for their futures in a realistic way, this includes managing expectations.
- Work closely with a professional network to promote the best outcomes possible for young people
- Advocate for young people and support young people to have their voices heard.
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Resilient – able to manage and work with challenging situations using appropriate support
- Be reflective – able to reflect and empathise with the experience of the young people and consider your own role within those experiences
- Able to work flexibly and creatively
- Be able to work autonomously where needed whilst being supported more generally by the team.
- Strong organisation skills are important as well as the ability to work flexibly and creatively.
- You will need strong communication and relationship building skills as well as an ability to work with a variety of professionals and other agencies.
There will be a need to travel within the county of East Sussex and sometimes nationwide dependent on where the young people are living.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
