This is an exciting new role in Heathrow’s busy Legal team, as a Property Lawyer, closely working with senior colleagues and the wider business on high profile commercial development projects and the management of airport property.

You will work (both independently and in collaboration with other team members) on all aspects of airport property work including preparing, negotiating, reviewing and advising upon a wide range of property documentation, providing high quality commercially driven legal advice to support business objectives, and promoting correct behaviours and compliance. You will take on a varied, diverse and often complex caseload sometimes involving (for example) property disputes, planning issues and commercial telecoms. A willingness to learn, continuously improve and develop your skills in a multidisciplinary, high-pressure environment is key.

Your role will involve:

  • Providing high quality pro-active legal advice to colleagues at all levels on a wide range of matters requiring property expertise.
  • Conducting and influencing negotiations involving leases and licences, property development work, commercial projects and associated documentation.
  • Managing other land and property matters including dispute avoidance and/or resolution, incident response, contractual claims and liabilities generally, identifying risks and opportunities and providing advice and suggestions to mitigate or remove risk.
  • Effectively managing external lawyers and specialist counsel, monitoring performance and cost to ensure high quality, cost-effective advice.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge and awareness of relevant legal and industry developments.
  • Providing targeted and timely training and relevant updates to business colleagues.
  • Drafting and updating standard form template documentation, policies and guidance to help continuously improve performance and compliance.

These skills are essential:

  • Strong academic background
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • Solid experience in property legal work gained working either in-house or with a reputable law firm
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills
  • Completing successful transactions with a high level of personal involvement
  • Strong written, interpersonal and presentation skills and a willingness to learn
