Position: Senior Software Engineer, Product Development
Previous experience: Design and development of platform database solutions using Fortran, C++, or C#.
Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom – Hybrid (60% Office, 40% Home)

The Role:
Join our dynamic Engineering data platform group where you'll collaborate with a passionate team of software engineers. In this role, you'll be a pivotal player in designing, implementing, and maintaining the core data management libraries that power our engineering products. As a trusted advisor, you'll guide the transition from legacy implementations to modern technologies. This multifaceted role allows you to work closely with internal engineering product teams, building and supporting a robust data platform that paves the way for future product enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain database frameworks and APIs using C++, C# and Fortran.
- Engage in Scrum meetings including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
- Recognize, articulate, and make technical decisions / trade-offs around multiple dimensions (scaling, reliability, performance, maintenance, etc.) that have an impact on our products.
- Collaborate with direct team members, internal product teams, support teams, and in some cases external customers to drive new developments and tackle critical issues.
Ideal Experience:
- Demonstrate strong design and coding skills, ideally with C++.
- Solid understanding and experience with database technologies and methodologies.
- Familiarity with software design patterns (objected oriented design), Computer Science fundamentals/principles and methodologies, as well as knowledge of operating system internals.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and processes (ADO, git).
- A receptive attitude towards feedback and eagerness to learn and improve.
