The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and job centre plus clients. We have some exciting opportunities available at Barking and Dagenham College. We are looking for a motivated and learner-centred Student Liaison Officer.
Reporting to the Behaviour & Pastoral Manager, this role will be responsible for creating a secure and positive environment for learners and stakeholders, using experience in conflict management and de-escalation techniques to positively manage learner behaviour on site.
This team will provide a range of appropriate interventions for those at risk of gang involvement, and influence, motivate and encourage diversion for those on the periphery of gang activities, through to exit programmes for those deeply entrenched.
Working with learners and other departments through enrichment programmes, one to one & group mentoring and intervention strategies to prevent anti-social behaviour and to improve access to learning; you will also act as a key point of contact to improve outcomes for at-risk by promoting attendance and inclusion strategies.
It is essential that you have a relevant professional qualification, such as Youth Work Qualification or another qualification. Significant experience associated with the area of work is desirable, but work experience in the field is more important, as is experience of developing social education programmes, including group work, and also a proven track record of successfully delivering services for young people and successful youth engagement in a comparable role within a service-driven organisation of comparable size, scope and complexity.
