Study Higher Liaison Officer Job at University of Reading

University of Reading Reading RG1

Sitting within our Global Recruitment and Admissions function, the Global Recruitment (UK and Outreach) team is responsible for the recruitment of UK undergraduate and postgraduate students, and for widening participation.

The university is committed to widening access into higher education: working with young people from groups underrepresented in HE to encourage their progression to university, in particular the University of Reading. As part of this commitment the University is part of a collaborative project, Study Higher – a collaboration between The University of Reading, The University of Oxford, Oxford Brookes University and Buckinghamshire New University to deliver impartial information, advice and guidance to young people in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Swindon.

In this role you will be responsible for delivering effective outreach activity particularly for target groups and schools as identified within the Study Higher collaboration. You will also fulfil event requests by Study Higher regional Higher Education Liaison Officers and work collaboratively as required with colleagues in other partner institutions to deliver activity and shared events.

This role requires flexibility with some evening working and extensive travel across a large geographical area.

You will have:

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Good knowledge of the higher education sector
  • Understanding of the widening participation agenda in a HE context
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Experience of working with schools and young people

Your application will be scored against the person specification for this role. Please make use of the Supporting Statement section of the application to evidence how you meet the essential criteria for this role.

Due to the nature of the funding for this post, this is a fixed-term role until 31st July 2023.
