Technical Officer (Gait Analysis) Job at Manchester Metropolitan University
Our team comprises approximately 200 technicians across the University. We provide specialist support to undergraduate and postgraduate students and the student experience is at the heart of what we do.
The services we provide underpin a wide variety of academic programmes and we deliver this support via specialist laboratories, workshops, design studios and contemporary arts facilities.
Our technical staff provide a high level of expertise and technical knowledge, playing a key role in supporting students in their studies and project work.
We also provide support for research, consultancy, and knowledge exchange activities.

Role
This is an exciting opportunity (2 year fixed term post in the first instance) for a highly experienced individual looking for a challenging and exciting role. We are seeking to appoint a Technical Officer with expertise in motion capture systems and biomechanical techniques to work in our Movement Laboratory. You will be part of a Sport Technical Team, which supports students and staff across the Faculty of Science & Engineering located at Birley and All Saints sites.
The Role:
You will take responsibility for activities involving gait analysis, electromyography and other laboratory techniques The role holder will ensure that specialist spaces are safe, equipment maintained to a high standard, and that the team are organised to ensure delivery of high-quality teaching, research and widening participation outputs.
About You:
You will have experience or with delivering specialist technical support, predominantly with a range of techniques using motion capture systems, including both kinematic and kinetic data acquisition and analysis.
You will have a flexible approach to work and an ability to work on your own initiative. Strong communication skills and a commitment to quality service will also play an important role in being successful in this post.
