Our client are a SME Manufacturing Distributor of building products to customers across the UK.

The Transport Manager will take ownership of the Transport Operation which is a small operation. Following a full review of the service, you will adopt new processes, systems and policies to enhance the efficiency of the Transport Operation.

Open to progressive career seekers, the role would be ideal for someone with experience working in small to mid size transport operations, been an Assistant Transport Manager, Operations Manager or Transport Manager.

Profile:

  • Managing a small team of drivers to ensure that all duties are fulfilled to the required standard
  • Manage national route planning for multi-drop vehicles (HGV Class 2)
  • Ensure improved dispatch management
  • Monitor OTIF (on time and in full) performance, understanding reasons for any challenges and resolve problems as required
  • Schedule customer deliveries via our own vehicles to achieve a quality delivery service by the most cost effective method
  • Ensure working hours are compliant with the Road Transport Regulations and the GB Domestic Rules
  • Set Quality standards, write instructions and carry out daily audit against them
  • Use appropriate geographical and transport network knowledge to maximise efficiency planning
  • Ensure all employees are provided with a clear objective to drive motivation and give a sense of purpose and meaning to their work
  • Collaborate with senior management on efficiency of vehicles and equipment
  • Ensure Legalisation & Compliance
  • Manage CPC requirements
  • Ensure all driving documentation is valid, including driving licences, driver qualification cards, endorsement checks etc.

The role:

  • A professional modern thinking Transport Manager
  • Proven track record in a similar role within the transport and logistic industry
  • Hold a CPC National License as minimum
  • You will have an excellent working knowledge of EU driver hours and WTD Legislation, as well as excellent working knowledge of Tachograph legislation
  • You will be able to demonstrate experience of successful resource management
  • Be commercially astute
  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Have a proven track record of working towards KPIs
  • Have strategic awareness
  • Be a strong leader and team player
  • Have excellent IT skills
  • Have excellent analytical skills
  • Be a strong, empowering people manager

Salary:

  • £35,000 - £40,000
