Yard Marshall - Nights

Menzies Distribution are looking for 3 Yard Marshalls to join our team. You’ll be working on behalf of Menzies Distribution Limited and its customers. Providing a first class service with our team in Linwood. You will be responsible for the coordination and movement of vehicles and trailers on, and off bays as required. You will also undertake full yard checks in line with the required standards and at compulsory intervals whilst on shift.

35hrs per week - 01.30am - 09.00am - 5 over 7 shift pattern 2 consecutive days off changing weekly

£500 bonus paid - after completion of a successful 12 weeks employment!

DUTIES

• Ensure the correct equipment is positioned safely on and off loading and parking bays in accordance with Company Safe Systems of Work
• Ensure Transport team receive regular updates of activity on the yard
• Undertake full yard checks in line with the required standards and at the compulsory intervals whilst on shift
• Follow correct processes to ensure the correct loads are attached to the correct trailers using relevant site systems and paperwork
• Provide the Transport team with a list of discrepancies in the yard and solutions on how to resolve discrepancies
• Ensure the traffic flow is maintained at all times in the yard and any congestion is escalated and supervised
• Carry out full, open-door trailer checks to ensure risk is managed and loads are identified. This includes checking loads are securely strapped on both inbound and outbound trailers to ensure the safe condition of vehicles and trailers when loading, unloading and in transit.
• Refuelling of vehicles as required
• Conduct regular yard checks, particularly in adverse weather to ensure health & safety of our employees, contractors & customers i.e., gritting/marshalling vehicles as and when required
• Reporting on available and unavailable (i.e., defective) fleet assets in the yard. Locking off unavailable or VOR trailers as required and accurately completing all relevant paperwork
• Maintain rigid vigilance to ensure the security and hygiene of the yard and the health, safety and welfare of authorised pedestrians and contractors on site
• Undertake deliveries and collections as requested to support the business

REQUIREMENTS

• A full driver’s license, (would be advantageous)
• Assist the night team in relation to distribution
• A clear understanding of the rules and regulation around drivers’ hours and working times.
• Awareness to carry out safety checks and keep the HGV looking world class
• Control traffic flow both in and outwith yard
• Monitor drivers movements when loading and unloading vehicles
• Report concerns and issues to line manager
• Physically fit to meet the demands of the role
