Person Specification

We are seeking a Commis Chef who has a passion for food and has a desire to want to develop their skills and continue learning. You must be a positive person who can communicate well with others. Having a high standard for your work is a must. We are ideally looking for a candidate who has completed or is in the process of completing a diploma or qualification in cookery and has the basic foundations in place to work within a kitchen.

Job Overview

As Commis Chef you will be working within a bustling restaurant alongside Chefs of all levels. Your role is a supportive one within the kitchen helping the smooth operation of the kitchen service. You will be learning every day on the job mastering new skills and figuring out what you enjoy most in the kitchen. You will be supporting across all food outlets within the hotel including the restaurant, bar food, room service, and events.

Some of your daily tasks could include:

  • Working as part of a successful team with both chefs as well as front of house team members.
  • Preparing and cooking meals in line with brand standards. Supporting sections within the kitchen including starters, mains and
desserts during a restaurant service.
  • Supporting with the preparation of food pre-service. Including supporting the Banqueting chef in the preparing of event food.
  • Distributing of deliveries, supporting to maintain stock control and rotation. Recording of information to maintain the necessary
records.
  • Upholding high levels of food hygiene and standards. Maintaining excellent awareness and understanding of the kitchen’s food
safety guidelines.
