Building on its strengths in flooding research and a campus wide Sustainable Drainage project (SuDSLab), the University of Hull is seeking a Knowledge Exchange (KE) Fellow in Floods and SuDS to work in the internationally renowned Energy and Environment Institute (EEI). With expertise in flooding and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), data collection and hydrological data analysis, the KE Fellow will work to develop sensor arrays and open data sharing to monitor water quantity and quality for SuDS. With colleagues in the EEI, Faculty of Science and Engineering and external partners from the Doncaster, Immingham Grimsby (DIG) Surface Water Resilience Project (which includes Local Authorities, Water Companies and the Environment Agency) you will work to develop and install a sensor network in newly developed SuDS, based on the SuDSLab initiative at the University campus.
The KE Fellow will process and analyse the data, lead co-authored publications and presentations; deliver KE activities; and write reports and policy briefs. In addition, the KE Fellow will contribute to teaching on our rapidly expanding MSc Flood Risk Management programme. You will work closely with colleagues in the Energy and Environment Institute, an internationally-leading transdisciplinary institute delivering research that makes a difference. The EEI is focussed on research exploring the impacts of climate change on environments, societies and cultures, and the pathways for a transition to carbon net zero and global sustainability. With a PhD in a relevant discipline, the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, talented and with a passion for innovation in flood risk management, building strong external partnerships, and public engagement.
