Job Description

We're 20,000 colleagues in more than 30 countries delivering oil, gas, wind and solar power to 170 million people worldwide. Taking on tough energy challenges is our job. Right now, we're facing an enormous task: supplying the world with the energy it needs, while lowering emissions.

We're up for the challenge. Are you?

The position

By joining our team in Exploration & Production International you will have the opportunity to:

Work as a Geophysicist as a core member of our growing U.K. team. You will report into the subsurface organisation which is responsible for the efficient development of a broad energy portfolio which includes our operated and none operated oil and gas asset base, bringing forward regional value capture opportunities, and helping grow our renewables and low carbon solutions businesses.

A near-term example of a task that you might be involved in is the planning and execution of wells for the Rosebank operated asset. As a Geophysicist responsible for this task you will need to;

  • Provide a complete evaluation of seismic data including 3D seismic interpretation, well-to-seismic correlation, velocity model building, depth conversion workflows, rock physics, seismic inversion, AVO analysis, seismic attribute analysis and uncertainty evaluation.
  • Quantify and characterise the reservoir and uncertainties, working in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary, integrated team to build static and dynamic models.
  • Provide hands-on reservoir geophysics input to well planning, establishing robust well placement strategies
  • Understand and appropriately plan for geohazard risks.
  • Have a solid understanding of drainage strategy concepts and work with a multi-disciplinary fast-paced team to optimise well placement.
  • Optimise data acquisition plans.
  • Interface with and influence the drilling and wells organisation to drive the asset towards high value solutions.
  • Actively participate in geophysical technical studies.
  • Able to follow up and QC seismic data processing.

You

Some qualities are essential for Equinor. You identify with our values, open, collaborative, courageous and caring, which guide our decisions and help us succeed and grow. You make safety your priority and contribute to our zero-harm culture. For this position, we are also looking for:

  • Skilled at prioritising competing tasks and functioning in a high-tempo work environment.
  • Commercial and results-oriented mind set.
  • Challenge established ways of working and ensure that standards, tools, technologies and work methods are developed, qualified and implemented.
  • A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant subsurface discipline.
  • A proven track record of contributing to the development and optimisation of large-scale, operated assets.
  • Experience within the following topics is an advantage;
    • Rock physics, AVO & inversion
    • An understanding/ability to integrate multi-disciplinary data to contribute towards field development through modelling, well planning and execution
    • Knowledge of seismic procesing
    • Ability to code/script
    • Ability to work across software platforms
